I'm sure someone more experienced than I will be along soon to agree with me or make a counter point.
I think some of the later variants aren't bad but I do agree, it's a hard sell and one (like the cicada) that I want to love. It's cooling capabilities do allow it to take those longer shots without fear of overheating but really I've found its one of those mechs that's begging to be customized since it easily makes a great platform for it. I will also say it's battlefists quirk help it if you run with quirks, but even without, one fist, one medium laser, and an SRM 2 to punch holes is alright. In terms of a campaign it does fill the roll of jack-of-all-trades well enough and that can be seen well in Alpha Strike from what I've seen.įrom linked games where ammo matters it has enough of all three to do multiple missions before being refit or reloaded and I think it's quirks back that up.Īs a medium mech I feel like it's in the same boat as the blackjack where it wants to target mainly vehicles or light mechs. The earlier versions do suck, best I can think for it is special ammo for the AC or infernos for the SRM. In the end, honestly the only time the shadowhawk comes up short is when you match tonnage 1v1-and the flaws of matching tonnage should be clear as it means all 55 tons mechs except for the single best one are 'bad'. So a shadow hawk allows you to squeeze in a little more elsewhere than if you took a 'better' 55 ton mech, while giving you a solid support mech at the same time.
SHADOWHAWK BATTLETECH SKIN
It costs less BV than a wolverine, and hundreds less than a Griffin or wolverine M. The Shadowhawk Pack includes an alternate skin for the formidable Shadow Hawk Mech, a multi-role BattleMech developed in the Golden Age.

If you DONT play with combined arms and quirks, there is yet 1 more reason to like the shadowhawk. This makes the shadowhawk capable versus VTOLS, vehicles, infantry, able to perform LRM indirect fire (great for hitting heavy turrets in a city), and able to scare any mech with more accurate head-seeking punches. The AC can load flak, the SRM2 can load infernos, and with the battlefist quirk with 6 damage punches you can equalize the fight with mechs with a one-two KO to the head. HOWEVER, if you play combined arms and with quirks you see why the Shadowhawk is so popular. So the shadowhawk's mix of weapons are not great for 1v1 mech combat.
